This will be the buildup of a Dumas 55" Scarab deep V with a Zenoah G260PUM engine and surface drive along with my
brother's 47" deep V with the same engine. Much more to come.

I started with a blank hull that I fiberglassed in the engine rails at 5" spacing which is industry standard. I started
with the idea of using an 18cc weedeater engine from a Wal-mart weed wacker that came with my house. I started cutting away
the plastic housing to streamline the install. After starting the engine, it overheated and seized. Turns out the plastic
housing routes cooling air to the head...opps.

After much research, mostly on http://www.modelgasboats.com
and Jims RC boat dock http://home.austin.rr.com/jnissen/rcboat.html
I settled on the Zenoah G260PUM water cooled engine. It's good for 4.2HP with a tuned pipe. Pricy at $325 though.

Next was to fiberglass the stuffing box which is a brass tube going out the transom. A 1/4" flex shaft from a weed eater
acts at the drive shaft. It's a direct drive to the Ballantine surface drive with a Prather 275 bronze alloy prop which has
been sharpened, balanced, and polished.

Here's a picture after the stuffing tube glassed in place, hardware and engine mounted, fuel cell made from 500mL IV bag,
waterproof radio box with 1/4 scale steering servo, throttle servo with kill switch, huge sub-C size Nicad receiver batteries,
and as many pool noodles that I jam in place.
Also note water injected tuned pipe exhaust. I made the header from a 3/4" copper elbow.

A couple days playing with masking tape and NAPA 2-part auto paint and the paintjob is complete!

It looks easy, but took 6 months of tinkering to get it to this point. It runs 42 MPH on GPS.
